Rough gravel brushes Wren's cheeks as her eyes flutter awake.
Street-lamps flicker on as the sun disappears in the distance. Lights from the surrounding building twinkle as the night life begins.
Pushing herself off the ground, Wren brushes her long, dark hair to the side before beginning her walk. A grumble erupts from her stomach reminding Wren of the fact that she couldn't remember when her last meal was. It had been roughly two months since she'd been thrown onto the street, and after a scare with a horny homeless man, Wren decided that she'd rather not go through the trash bins in darkened alleyways.
Straightening up, Wren continued her walk. Being homeless meant a lot of time doing nothing, so Wren would often wander aimlessly around.
Pain coursed through Wren's middle causing her to bend down.
Across the street, an old woman stepped out of a building with a neon sign reading, 'Madam Red's Club'. Cigarette in hand, the woman took a long drag, her black bath robe swaying in the light breeze.
Spying Wren from the corner of her eye, the old woman struts over to her before gripping her chin, hauling her up. Pulling her head from side to side, the old woman examines Wren's fine features, her slender nose, almond shaped eyes and high cheekbones before giving her a once over.
"You want a job?" The old woman asks.
A frown forms between Wren's eyebrows.
"Whats the job?" She asks, although she had a rough idea judging from the building the woman exited.
The old woman chuckled, "Darling, I don't think you're really in the position to be asking questions like that."
Wren's eyebrows arch in worry.
What does she do?
