You quickly mess up your hair and practice your sick voice before walking into the kitchen. You mother is in the kitchen, cooking some kind of stew.
"I'm not feeling too well, Mom, I think I caught a cold" you cough at the end of the sentence to add to the act,
"Oh dear, that's not good, are you well enough to go to school" your mother replies in a worried voice,
"I don't think so, could I stay home" again you cough to add to the act.
"Of course you can, go up to your bedroom and rest, I will cook some soup for you" she replies, returning to her cooking.
You walk up to your bedroom, passing your brother Bill as he heads out, late again, to the school bus.
