You look at Eric and see he hasn't give up yet. You decide to stay with him until the end and fight for his company. The group goes into overdrive and starts really pushing for new ideas and high quality gaming experiences. The newest project is another adventure game but with no lead character. Instead the gamer creates the character themselves, be it male or female. It is a very customizable, interactive game and you see great potential in it. The story starts to develop and grows into an immersive, interesting plot. This game could really be it. The morale in the workplace is amazing and although the company is still struggling, everyone can see a bright horizon. Four months after the disappointing release of the last game, your company puts out, Tribe (the game). Unfortunately, one of your coworkers was a spy for another start up company and had been feeding all these ideas to your rival company. The day before your game was release, your rival put out, Alliance, essentially the same game to rave reviews. Your company was so busy putting the final touches on its game that it didn't see what its rival had done and released the game. Critics ripped Tribe apart for copying Alliance. Your company is done for. Eric skips town since he has lost trust in all his workers and the employees are left to pick up the pieces. There is nothing you can do, so you leave.
You just watched someone's dreams and life work get crushed before your eyes. It wasn't just Eric's dreams, but it was that whole offices, including yours. You work so hard and sometimes it just doesn't pay off. You do whats right and the cheater prevails. Life is never fair that way. What is the point? You wonder that to yourself a lot these days. Maybe going back to school was a mistake, maybe staying at this company was a mistake.
You struggle to find work after people see Eric's company on your resume. It has become a black mark in the industry, and all your coworkers are feeling the pain as well. You make the incredibly hard decision to give it up and return to office work. You don the tie and suit once more, and become an cubicle slave once more.
You die alone at age 54 from a stroke while sitting at your computer at work.
