You put a finger to your lips. Bending down, you unlaced your sneakers. The stone floor is cold and damp against your bare feet. You watch Chang. He seems to sound sleep. You begin creeping towards him. First one foot, then the next.
"Hmmmmmmmmmmmmphhh..."
You froze.
"Awwwrrrrrrrrr..."
He keeps making those strange noises, deep in his throat. He shifts in the chair. Then, he settles down again. Holding your breath, you inch even closer, going down on one knee, stretching out your hand, your fingers closing around the torch.
Then, something moves beside you.
A flash of grey.
It squeaks.
It is a rat.
And its shiny eyes are staring straight at you.
