Some things in life will never change. The sun will set in the West and rise in the East. Dragons will raid villages and raze family houses to the ground. And bandits will continue to prey on the weak and injured. Even if you tie them up today, take away their weapons, scare them, reason with them, tomorrow is a new day. The sun will rise in the East, and they will start again. Unless, you put an end to their existence. You draw your combat knife from your belt, brandishing it in a stabbing motion with your hands over the young man's face. "May the gods grant you a better life in the world beyond than the one you were given here." The man starts to say something, to protest perhaps, but it doesn't matter. With all your might, you bring the knife forward and into his neck. Blood spurts from pale flesh as wide eyes look up at you, incredulous yet afraid. He dies quickly, the life draining with the bright red blood into the muddy ground, as the body slumps after it. You wipe your knife clean, resisting the urge to throw up. You take solace in the fact that he can no longer hurt anyone; that whoever he hurt before you has now been avenged. You turn your attention to the group you recently defeated and tied up. It will be easier for them, unconscious.
It doesn't take you long to dispose of the bodies, get you gear ready and head back on the trail.
