You can't get yourself to give up the stability of your life at the moment. You stay at the big corporation and end up meeting a beautiful girl when she gets hired in your department. You get married and move into the suburbs. You commute to work daily, which isn't so bad knowing that she waits for you at home. You have the two kids like society wants and they are pretty chill children. You take family vacations and start scrapbooking. You stay at the company for the rest of your life and retire at age 68 with full benefits. Your kids are grown and have their own kids at this point. One christmas your grandson asks for a Gameboy 5Ds. Suddenly, strange wisps of memories come into your mind and you can't shake them. You remember sound effects and pokemon but can't make sense of what your mind is remembering. Eventually the memory fades and you go back to playing bingo.
You die at the age of 89 surrounded by family, the beeps and boops of the hospital machines bring back those odd memories that follow you, but no matter how hard you try the true memory is gone. You die having forgotten the things you once loved.
