After getting closer, you see that the person lying on the beach has blond hair. It must be Cate because Kirsten, the only other blonde in the family, is slightly taller than you, while Cate is smaller. She is breathing; she is alive. You turn her around and slightly slap her face to get her to gain consciousness.

After that is achieved, you look around. You can't see any of your children. Worried, you and Cate split up to search where they could have washed ashore. Ten minutes later, you can hear Cate yelling. You hurry back, suppressing images of bodies floating face down in the sea.

"I found them, they are alive and well."

"Thank god. Where are they, why didn't you bring them?"

"Well, that's... better see for yourself." She leads you further along the beach to a spot from where you can see another beach, divided from your beach by a dark stretch of ocean of about a hundred yards in width. You can see your children standing next to the wreckage of the lifeboat, waving.

"Let's swim over there," you say and wade into the water.

"Wait," Cate says. She points to the other island where you can see Debra and Kirsten frantically crossing their arms back and forth. You attempt to inquire via shouting why you shouldn't do, but it is pointless. You can't make out words at this distance over the waves. Finally, Will gets a a plastic box of a signal orange color. He cautiously wades a few steps into the water, then lunges out and throws the box as far into the water as he can. The box is caught immediately in a strong current that must flow right in this passage, and washed into open waters. For now it seems impossible to cross over to the other island.

You signal your children to make preparations for the night. Reluctantly, the kids gather what they salvaged from the lifeboat and head inland. You turn around when they are out of view and start looking for a place to set up camp. A couple of hundred meters away, you discover a small creek that empties into the sea. At the outfall itself there is too much brackish water, but fifty yards upstream there is fresh water, and you find a clearing where you can set up camp.

The weather seems stable; there is a high humidity, but is isn't raining - yet, because on the horizon you can see dark clouds looming. Now you have to set priorities: You are still dripping wet, and you neither have food nor shelter. What is your main priority?
