"Julia, is everything OK? Something wrong?"
She looks startled and a little flustered at first, but then smiles and giggles.
"Oh God. Umm, no I'm just being silly," she says as she blushes just a bit. She bites her lip again. "Sammy, I guess I'm just excited for you. And I'm kind of maybe a little jealous."
"Jealous?" That was unexpected, considering you feel like an orphan about to start a strange new life.
"Well, I mean I'm jealous of the other students. You're the kind of guy I wish I'd met when I was a freshman."
She has a look on her face that you can't read very well. It's a mix of anticipation, regret, hope, and loss. All wrapped up together. As you stand there facing each other in the doorway for that moment, you notice that she has a handful of freckles on her nose, that her wavy hair falls down over her left eye a bit, that her eyes are emerald green, that she has a small mole on her eyelid...
