Please make sure to include the title of the story as a category on each page you post. If you don't know how to add categories, please review the Tutorial, especially Basic page format.--Platypus 19:45, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Interstellar Desire: WIP stories probably don't belong on the Main Page

I'm moving your story The Interstellar Desire off of the main page and onto All Adult Stories/I. Generally, short or unfinished works don't go on the main page. Feel free to move it back once your story has reached 300+ pages (or completion).

Also, I noticed another story with a similar concept started not too long ago: Offworld Romance by User:AndreiVem. I think he's abandoned it, so if you want to pick up where he left off there's no one to stop you (though you could leave him a message just in case). He's only provided a basic premise so you'd be able to take the story whatever direction you choose. I like having a base to start out on if I'm going to write, but everybody's different! Do continue on The Interstellar Desire if you're already committed to it.

Have a good one!--Pickles (Talk) 22:46, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Main Pages Stories

You pose a fair question, but I don't have a truly definitive answer for you. We've been trying to keep the Main Page compact, and every newcomer to the site feels like their story should be on the Main Page. We can't realistically accommodate everyone who would like their story spotlighted. Basically, we just want a small selection of stories on the Main Page, with the bulk of the stories on the sub-pages.

That's not to say that I won't be willing to consider adding your story to the Main Page at some point. Just try to be understanding about the state of the site, and the fact that many writers want Main Page status for their stories. --Platypus 19:47, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

Potential Writer

Hi, first off I really dig the idea of what Interstellar Desire is trying to achieve. This site has seen such low activity that it's a miracle when someone creates a new story. This story does some really interesting things differently from the other stories. The Chronos Colony Handbook, I found particularly fascinating, with the world-building and the different leadership of the colony feeling like an actual novel. I was wondering if I could help you write the Daniel Goodman side of the story. I already have some ideas I want to try out. I am a high school junior in New York so I think I have a pretty reasonable grasp of writing and grammar. I promise to delete anything you don´t like and will be awaiting your response.

Happy to be Onboard!

Great! I´ll start writing but can you clarify some things for me?

First, you wanted me to reference the Chronos Colony Handbook, ¨exactly as you see it¨. What do you mean by this? I'll be using locations and characters of the Chronos, throughout the story. DO you want me not to make my own stuff or to always mention the handbook in the story?

This brings me to my next point. Is it REALLY necessary to include the Chronos Colony Handbook on every single page? We can make a sub-category for the people who want that. I mean, what most people on this site want is a good story, with some smutty scenes at regular intervals. Don´t get me wrong, the setting and world here is interesting and all. That's the main reason I wanted to write here. The world-building is so different from anything else from editthis. It's just that most people don´t care about the world. They care about what is happening to them (Danial or Lucy) rather than where they are. Shoving the Handbook in their face every page will not make them any more invested in the setting.

Lastly, as a rule DO NOT create over three choices on a page. especially for really mundane things as breakfast options. Take this from the guy whose entire purpose is to seemingly always run into red text. DON´T DO IT. This is more on an author problem than an audience one but, creating too many options just fills the work with red text. Personally, I would limit the choices to 2 a page, hell some of them could be just one, for the illusion of choice. If you think can do it all then be my guest, but I would recommend it. It just puts way too much pressure on you so there are bound to so red text.

Sorry for going into a mini-rant right there lol. Heck, I probably more effort writing this than my English final lol. I have just seen one too many good concepts and stories ruined by their writing or straight up abandoned. I hope to write about this in the future and wish you consider my points, you crazy Brit:) Sorry don´t know where that came from lol
