D&D : Duel the dwarf defensively and give him a taste of your skill and strength without actually trying to harm him.
From Create Your Own Story
You aren't trying to hurt anyone, just proving your mettle will do. You aim your blows at his shield and circle around him, landing heavy hits all perfectly in the center of his shield. He only makes a few counterattacks when you fail to land the next attack quickly enough, which has you mistaking the fact that he can barely counterattack for an attempt to show you where you are still lacking. After watching for some time and seeing how the dwarf is struggling against you.
The rogue stops the duel. "All right, enough. We can see you're pretty good with that sword of yours. So why do you want to join us?"
You reply instantly, "To defeat evil monsters and win glory to the cause of justice!"
This time, the rogue was prepared and does a far better job at holding his laughter.
The cleric speaks up for the first time. "Do you have any other skills beyond swinging the sword around?"
You enthusiastically nod and reply, "Yes, of course. I can use healing and enchanting magic as well as Rebuke Undead, sir cleric."
His eyes shine with interest. "Can you show me your full-power Turn Undead?"
You excitedly yelp "of course" and gather all the power stored in you body to expel a powerful wave of divine magic into your surroundings. It does no damage to the environment or bystanders, but is lethal against undead minions.
The cleric says, "Passable," trying to sound neutral. However, his companions don't fail to notice how impressed he looks. Of course, you do completely fail to notice that.
Exchanging a quick glance with the rest of his motley band, the rogue turns to you. He clears his throat and says, "Hmmm, you still have much to learn but you're not without talent. I suppose we could allow you to join our group as long as you don't get in the way and do exactly as we say."
Your eyes gleam and you jump up and down. He unnecessarily continues with, "So will you join us and be a good little apprentice?"
Keep jumping up and down, yelling "Please let me join!" till they get annoyed and silence you.
D&D : Promise to do anything they ask you to do if you can accompany them.
