You are training to be an expert on combat so that when the time comes, you can protect your city. Your mentor is Sir Drakus II, survivor of the Great Siege. Sir Drakus II was born into the Great Siege, and helped to end it. You are reading a book on the War of a Thousand Armies, and it says:

Sir Drakus II ended the 70-year long siege known as the Great Siege of Anorath. If it wasn't for his courage and abilities as a leader, it is possible the siege would not have been won. He propelled the enemy back to liberate the city of Anorath. Sir Drakus the First was killed in the battle.
