Captain: "Okay, here's what we do. Find some palm leaves and dye them gray with the ashes from our bonfire. Then glue them on my back with that stuff we made from the turtle sHells."

The crew does as you say. After the english come on to land, you are introduced as the ship dog.

Englishman: "Wot happened to yo' cap'n, then?"

You had a backstory prepared for that.

First mate: "Well, he was a pig. So we ate him."

Englishman: "Fair 'nuff, I guess."

You are smuggled back to England disguised as a dog. After making it ashore, you return to your birthplace, a farm near Cambridge. Your elderly mother still lives there.

Mother: "Oink."

This translates as: "So, you finally came to your senses and quit piracy?"

Captain: "Oink."

This translates as: "Yes."

You discard your clothes, and spend your retirement mostly rolling around in mud.
