You fight down the urge to try anything and stand up. 'This'll be fine,' you say. Is it just you or does she seem almost disappointed? Suddenly she reaches up and kisses you gently. When she pulls away she smiles coolly. 'Good luck brown-eyes,' she says.
You leave her standing at the door in her dressing gown as you drive home in silence.
