The next day katelyn, adolf kohln were in my chambers early in the morning.
"There wont be no going back from here. Once we announce your bethrothal to katelyn we would become public enemy no. 1. Your mother might try to change your mind but know this shes loyal to your brother not you. Your brother will leave for the standing army immediately and might march on the capital."
"We need to marry you and katelyn immediately. There is no time to lose. Spys tell me wilhem is marrying the dukes czech cousin alexandra from croatia. Once the marriage is done were all doomed. Duke becomes his ally and no way we win with their combined forces"
"We cant imprison or kill wilhem either as dat will infuriate the duke to wiping our both family out"

"Without the marriage it would look like the kohlns are killing the royalty and the duke will interfere. But with the marriage all the lands and army will be yours and it would just be succession civil war between brothers."

The kohln guards barge in and report the castle is secured.
WE all get to the royal church and start preparing for the the wedding. I can see uneasy streets outside the castle. It was do or die and if we failed we were all dieing a traitors death.
I complained we both were too young to get married but adolf pointed to a papal dispensation. he had paid the papacy 20 thousand gold marks to bless this special marriage.
Katelyn in a royal dress code shocked alot of noble in attendance but i knew it was deliberate. I was wearing blue velvet dress garb with red cloak golden breaded to signify royalty.
She matched my clothes without the red to signify femanine qualities.
Not as pompus as for a king, within minutes i was married and was one of the two strongest contenders for the throne.
The marriage dispursed as soon as it was assembled. We made our first appearance as couple on the royal terrace. most people were busy with getting out of the city towards the country. A civil war was inevitable and they knew it. They started kneeling once the kohln soldiers started getting rough on them.
Soon our entire entourage was at the kohln manor. My wife along with all the ladies went to their relatives in switzerland. War was upon us.
After two days once the assembling of the army was done along with provisions i was met by hans grieter the commander in chief of our army. He didnt look impressed on seeing me.
"Your brother looks way meaner than you do" he exclaimed. "ja but im smarter than him"
A mindless laugh followed. And i laughed with him equal mindlessly. I sensed he followed his insticts which in the military will get you far. But i reckon he would hit it off with my brother and was of his kind.
"Sire our armys are assembled, 3 thousand strong with big supplies too. The enemy has about same troops . They seem not to make movements for now as they seem to have problems getting food for supplies. They lack the money and so we should march right now and crush them"
Adolf is much more defensive in his approach preaching caution. we have a peasant army with little to no professional soldiers whereas wilhems army is a professional standing army which will win against us even if outnumbered.
Their base at moravia is a mountainous region and attacking will give the defenders a considerable advantage. He says we will be annihalated if we attack
