You dropped to all-fours and came closer to the door. The hole was really small but you could see a silhouette in a shower. The wood on the edges of the hole looked rotten. If you do it carefully you should be able to widen it, but you'll need something to sick it through. You got up and went to your room where you found a screwdriver. This should be perfect. You came back to the door, looked through the hole again to make sure your mom is still showering and she was. Everything was perfect - water should silence the scratching and you should be able to pull the splinters to your side.
After a while f work you managed to widen the hole to the size of your finger. This gave you pretty good view, but if you keep working you should be able to widen it a little bit more - that would allow you to have a perfect view.
