Fortunately for you, Krystal is an excellent swimmer. In high school she was the captain of the girls varsity swim team. A few days a week in the summer she swims about an hour in her elderly neighbor George Jones' pool. However, the lake is twenty miles across. She has never attempted to swim such a great distance.

You focus on swimming and do your best to make the distance. You have no watch to keep accurate time, but judging by the movement of the sun, you figure that you are swimming about a mile every fifteen to twenty minutes.

The first few miles are the easiest. About ten miles in, you stop swimming because you are feeling a bit tired and float for a few minutes to take a short rest.

You are running out of sunlight. If you rest too long, then it will be dark before you get across the lake. If you don't rest enough, you run the risk of running out of energy before you get across the lake.
