These aren't regular stocks; they've been modified. There are six stocks all together, lined up along the side of the road. The first three are designed to hold people on their knees with their mouths at waist height, where they can best be useful. The thick wooden plank has half-circles cut out of it for neck and wrists, and comes down to meet the other plank cut to match. Strong metal latches with padlocks can be secured on either side to be sure there is no escape.
The second three are a very strange design. There are holes cut for wrists in the planks, but the center hole which should be for the neck is much larger and wider. In addition, there's a
