You approach the professor as she's sitting in the faculty lounge going over her lecture plans. You wait until she's finished, then speak to her. "Good afternoon," you say.
She looks up from her notes as she finishes putting them in her lecture folder. "Good afternoon, Professor Foster."
"Um," you continue, "Sylvia... may I call you Sylvia?" She nods. "Sylvia, I was wondering if perhaps I could have the pleasure of your campany for dinner?"
She actually smiles. "I'm not dumb, Jack. I know you've taken an interest in me. Sure, one dinner couldn't hurt. If we don't hit it off, we go our separate ways. I'm available this evening at around 7:00. I'll meet you there. Where did you want to meet?"
