Marlumi
From Create Your Own Story
Marlumi. Marlumi.
Somewhere in the distance, you can hear someone calling you. Is it you? That name...is it yours?
Marlumi, wake up.
Why? Are you asleep? You acn barely hear them...why are they so far away?
Don't give in to the darkness.
The darkness.
You have to escape the darkness. Staying here any longer means you've given up. You're not sure, but you've got a feeling that you've left something undone...and you have to complete it.
---
A soft, rythmic thumping fills your ears as you rise back to consciousness. The sound is soothing, as is the soft silk against your face. You open your eyes ever so slowly, wincing in the bright light, and blink once to rid yourself of the horrible nightmare you'd just left behind.
But, it was no nightmare, was it? The voice was so clear...so familiar. And yet...
"Ah, you're awake."
You glance up sharply, staring into the bright eyes of a man sitting in front of you. He is turned around slightly, smiling back at you. His black hair moved in the breeze, as did his many layers of summoner-looking clothes. He wore several lengths of dark-colored beads, and had odd markings on his face.
Startled, you try to sit up. As you glance down, you realize you were laying on some kind of fur. To either side of you, two magnificent white wings move up and down slowly, creating the rythmic thumping you had heard. The beast's head turns around slightly to look at you, its long golden mane fluttering about in the wind, and you quickly realize that you are riding a dragon.
Before you can panic, the man speaks again. "Don't worry. You're far safer with us than down there on the ground alone."
The dragon shifted his head, producing something akin to a nod, and spoke as well. "I am Gragonith, and this is Mei-Kou. Who do you call yourself?"
You frown. They obviously weren't the ones calling you before... "Marlumi."
"Well, Marlumi," Mei-Kou murmures, facing forward once more. "Since you're our guest, we'll let you decide where we go. We can either head north, away from the Spires, or south toward them. It's up to you."
You are confused, disoriented, and unable to make sense of most of what is going on, but you're not willing to let a choice escape you.
Which way do you choose?:
