One problem at a time. You decide it is better to deal with the water that won't dry first then deal with wherever the brick came from second. You turn your gaze away from the broken window and back onto the carpet in front of you only to find that the dark spot is nowhere to be seen. You look all around you - in front, behind, and both sides - but nothing, it isn't there. Apparently ceasing to pay attention to the water spot, despite it only being for a moment, solved that problem.
Time for problem number two. The brick with the piece of paper attached to it.
