You can't afford to hesitate. You throw your athletic body into a cartwheel towards the knife on the ground. The leader fires, but the bullet passes harmlessly between your legs as you are cartwheeling. Before he can overcome his shock at a lady's gymnastic skill besting a man with a gun, you snatch up the knife and hurl it with expert precision straight into his heart. He stands ramrod straight for a second, then topples over onto his back, his dead eyes staring up at the blue Egyptian sky. You shake your head sadly. You hadn't intended to kill anyone. Unfortunately, your decision to escalate the brutality of the fight turned it into a kill or be killed situation.

The henchmen on the ground stir. You knee them in their faces, one after the other, being careful to use only enough force to knock them out and not so much as to fracture their skulls.

With one last look at the gruesome scene you have created, you turn, your silky hair whipping behind you, and exit the alley. The incident has left you jittery. Killing a monster is one thing, but killing a small-time crook who could have easily been defeated without doing permanent damage is quite another. You wonder what to do next.
