'''For the sex part of the question,''' perhaps you could say, "The two of you have sex," or, more likely, put it in a less blunt way. That's mature. But going into details, like what you see in some Adult stories (<cough>[[Smutty Sex Romp]]<cough>), is, like you probably guessed, more for Adult stories.

'''As for violence,''' I'd say that's as much as you want. Wanna have a no-blood story to keep those floors a shiny white? Go ahead. Or just make even John Wick think you're brutal. Your choice, unless [[User:Platypus|good 'ol Platypus]] says otherwise. Those are just a few guidelines I use, so I suppose you can help understand this category. Red links removed from the list. If your story poofed, it was because it was a red link and did not have a page. Feel free to add it back with the proper link if you want. --Dirty Me 02:06, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

Mature Content Clarification

I'm writing a story under the mature content rating and I would like some clarification as to what this community sees as 'adult' or 'mature'. I assume the difference is in the detail and the context of the action, but just how much detail is too much? While it's not an issue for me yet, there will be descriptive swordplay and implied sexual encounters in my story and I want to make sure I categorize the story correctly.

So yeah, what level of detail in sex, violence and themes is considered too much for a mature rating?

I would also like to mention that I tried to post this on the main pages talk page, but it appears is impossible to do so without butchering some guys links. When submitting it just brings me to a page saying you can only post 1 link every 20 minutes, even though I am not adding any new ones. --BlightedSong 13:12, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

I'd say you should use your own judgment. The line between mature and adult is pretty fine. It's not like when someone was posting about Harry Potter kicking his uncle in the balls. That was a blatant deviation from family friendly. If you feel that you've crossed fro mature to adult, you can always move your story from the mature page to the adult page. If I read something of yours and I think it's crossed the line, I'll tell you. Then it will up to you to edit or move, as you see fit.

It might be time to archive some of the old discussions on the Main Page talk page, because re-posting the links activates the spam filters just as if they're being posted for the first time. --Platypus 13:21, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

I'm just now seeing this, but I'd like to help for anyone else reading this.

For the sex part of the question, perhaps you could say, "The two of you have sex," or, more likely, put it in a less blunt way. That's mature. But going into details, like what you see in some Adult stories (<cough>Smutty Sex Romp<cough>), is, like you probably guessed, more for Adult stories.

As for violence, I'd say that's as much as you want. Wanna have a no-blood story to keep those floors a shiny white? Go ahead. Or just make even John Wick think you're brutal. Your choice, unless good 'ol Platypus says otherwise. Those are just a few guidelines I use, so I suppose you can help understand this category. Hope I helped! --Magikarp7297, the Wild Card 14:45, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
