"While I wouldn't word it so harshly," you say, giving Kayla a disapproving look, "I think she has a point. You never leave the house, Katie." Kayla smiles smugly, happy you sided with her.
"I dunno," Katie mumbles, blushing a deeper shade of red, "I just prefer being inside."
"I understand that, dear, but you have to get out and socialize." You feel bad for chastising your daughter, but it needed to be said.
"Eric's right, honey," your wife agrees, sitting down at the table. "Look, there's a block party this weekend. Would you please come with us. There are so many nice boys in our neighborhood that you really should meet."
"Maybe," Katie says softly, feeling ganged up on. You change the subject to avoid further embarrassment, and dinner continues as usual. You can tell your wife is happy you finally criticized Katie's behavior.
Your family finishes dinner, sharing some small talk around the table. While your wife washes the dishes, you sit down in your favorite chair and crack open a newspaper. Apparently, there is a suspected spy in the capital, an illegal named Roland Rivero. These were trying times indeed.
Your children go to their respective rooms, and once the dishes are clean your wife retires to your bedroom, a book in hand. Putting the newspaper away, you climb the stairs to the second floor. All the kids bedrooms are on this floor, and you contemplate visiting one of them.
Whose room do you enter?
