You can remember the tales your Grandfather told you as you sat upon is knee, the fire roaring. Of dragons, as tall as trees, fiercer than the hungriest wolf, hidden away in dark corners of the world. Every one in the village had claimed to have seen one at one point or another. They had fascinated you all your life, and now you are of age, you will do what non of your family have had the courage to do before: Hunt them.
You pull on your thick fur travelling coat, and check your bag one last time. Water skins, flints, basic cooking equipment. The last thing you put on is your scabbard, containing the sword your father gifted you for coming of age. He had tried to convince you many times that they didn't exist; that hunting them was a fools errand. But he couldn't stop you. You wish him, and your mother good bye. You promise that you will come back, if no dragons are found, in a year and a day. Finally, you say farewell to your four brothers and your sister, and step out into the world
Your first day's traveling has brought you to the forest which marks the end of civilisation as you know it. At the entrance to the forest, there is a fork in the road. Which path do you choose?
