It's seven thirty in the evening and you have just put Joe to bed when you hear the phone ring, you pick it up on your way into the kitchen and answer it.
"Hello." You answer "Emma Lester speaking."
"Hi." You hear a female voice on the other end of the line. "I'm Ylonda Blake, Tino's mom, I understand you've offered my son free tutoring lessons."
"Hi Mrs Blake that's not exactly true, I told him I would give him one hour of tutoring for one hour of yard work."
"Oh I, see a little fact he forgot to add, I need to know why you would want to teach him? I'm pretty sure you get anyone to do the yard work and if you could get him a passing grade?"
"Well Mrs Blake I want to teach him because he as an obvious talent for basketball and I hate to see talent not given a chance to flourish and as you say anyone could tidy the yard for me but he gave me the impression you were a hard working woman who wouldn't stand for charity. I can't promise to get him a passing grade as I don't know what level he is at, but I can promise to improve his grades."
"Thank you for your honesty Miss Lester."
"It's Mrs Lester but please call me Emma."
"Okay Emma, please call me Ylonda, will Mr Lester be annoyed that your tutoring?"
"Mr Lester passed away two years ago."
"I'm sorry to hear that Tino's father did a runner when he was young and he's all I have so I want the best for him."
"I understand and that won't be a problem."
"Good, well I don't get home from work until six so if it's no trouble could he come around to your place after school."
"That won't be a problem but tell him if I'm not there not to worry as I won't be long I'll just be picking my son up from school."
"Ah you have a boy too and how old is he?"
"Joe is only five."
"Wonderful, thank you so much Emma I'll make sure he's on his best behaviour. Goodbye."
"Goodbye."
You hang up the phone quite pleased with how that went Ylonda seemed like a very nice woman.
The next morning you drop Joe off at school and then run some errands before getting home and researching the current curriculum before then picking Joe up on your return.
Do you?
