You are shocked by Duran's revelation, but you keep your composure and reply "I'm sure my father wouldn't do this without a very good reason. As for what that reason may be, I'll find out from this... Lord Ruairi when I get there". You keep your head high and pretend to be unaffected, not that you're fooling anyone. You feel faint and your heart beats so loudly you're afraid they'll hear it. You quickly get in the carriage and lie down inside where they can't see you, sobbing quietly until you fall asleep. | You are shocked by Duran's revelation, but you keep your composure and reply "I'm sure my father wouldn't do this without a very good reason. You wake up to the sound of someone knocking on the carriage door. Luckily, there isn't anyone foolish enough to come into your carriage to wake you up, since you cursed the last person who did that with a disease that covered his face in warts. The poor sob, who never had any ill intent, committed suicide a few weeks later. That was one of the few occasions even you felt guilty. It served its purpose in getting people to respect your privacy, though. | You wake up to the sound of someone knocking on the carriage door.
You quickly make yourself presentable before opening the carriage. The one waking you up is Willem, the stable boy. Apparently, he was the only one with the guts to wake you up. Which suits you just fine. He tells you that you've arrived at Lord Ruairi's manor. You look around and see a grand manor towering above you. In the moonlight and with the reflection of the water from below, the sight takes your breath away. His taste in houses sure earned him a few points there. As you look around, you spot a large ship transporting the guards that brought you here back to the shore. It isn't just any ship though. You can actually see the magic emanating from it, you can also see why. The water near the shore is full of rocks and treacherous water, any ship without a powerful enchantment like that would never be able to get to this island in one piece. Which also means you have no other way of leaving this island.
The servants you hand-picked yourself stay behind with you and follow you to the manor's entrance where you are greeted by armored guards. At your approach, the guards open the gates in silence. Something feels odd about them. You can feel an aura radiating off these guards that reminds you of summoned creatures rather than humans. You don't have any more time to think about it as a couple of servants run up to you and show you to your quarters. Your own servants settle in as well. Surprisingly, the shy stable boy Willem seems to have become the leader among them somehow. You make a mental note to look into that sometime and enter your new quarters.
At first, they give off a bit of a creepy vibe, but as you look around, the elegance of everything in the room gets to you. It doesn't look uselessly expensive and you don't see any gold anywhere, but the carvings in the wood and the elegant drawings on the tapestry fascinate you. Even if you know nothing else about him, this Ruairi fellow has a good eye for art.
You feel happy, both about learning something positive about your future husband as well as getting this beautiful room. Then you realize that, with all the commotion before leaving, you completely forgot to take any clothes with you. You check the luggage your servants brought. They were pretty thorough and brought every type of clothing you could possibly need... Except for a nightgown that is.
This is frustrating! You can't even blame this on anyone because then you'd have to admit to forgetting all about clothing yourself. And you wouldn't be caught dead asking the maids if you can borrow a nightgown from them. You stomp around the room as you think of what to do.
You :
Check the dresser, maybe whoever prepared this room left some clothing there for you
