Today started off like any other day. You woke up, showered, and got dressed in your bra and panties and a white tank top and short, cut-off jean shorts. But today is not any other day. Today is the today you are leaving the country and the farm behind and starting a new life. You had decided that yesterday.
Yesterday was your 18th birthday, and nobody said a word to you about it. You worked all day in the fields, like you always do. No presents. No birthday cake. Nothing. You've felt unappreciated and unloved since your mother died, but this was the last straw. So, you decided, enough is enough. It's time to leave your stepdad, his farm, and your country life behind.
You didn't want anyone to know what was going on, so you dressed in your normal clothes. The only difference was that you grabbed your ID and every bit of cash you had and stuffed them in your pockets before you went down to breakfast and out to work in the fields.
