If 'tis done when 'tis done, 'twere well 'twere done quickly. You lever yourself to your feet, stroll over to the State's table, flip the catches, and open the shiny black briefcase.

Inside there's a notepad, with notes and scribbles, a law book, a few copies of case reports...and under the notepad, a flash of color. You move it aside, to reveal - comic books. Specialty comic books.

"Big House Bunkmates." Uh oh. "Guard Games." Does that mean what you think it does? "Hardon Hoosegow." That definitely does. "Birthday Bottom Boy's Big Night Behind Bars." Hey, you didn't know there was a sequel.

Flipping through the pages, the dialogue's about what you'd expect. Lots of b-word and c-word and s-word my d-word. The action's pretty graphic. Well, why else call them "graphic" novels?

You put everything back and snap the case closed. Even if you liked that kind of thing, it's not a fantasy you'd want to dwell on now. But maybe you can see why the fresh young prosecutor is so dedicated to her job. You rest a little to think about it.

The clock ticks on and it's getting close to the end of the break, so it's time to find your lawyer and have a quick chat with the first defense witness.
