An option in most video games to compensate for a game developers lazyness to develop more characters for the games they make. It's supposed to add replay value while cheapining the production values to make the moves not suck ass.

MMO abuse

Because character creation was limitless, countless males will go onto WOW and disguise themselves as hot chicks in order to seduce the higher level players and leech off them (because you can date people over a video game). No matter how many times people have been warned, it still works.
