An average male Ysorn.

Pronounced: ĭs-orn

Appearance

Male Ysorn are generally about 5'2". Their fur color ranges between shades of red, dark grey, or occasionally you'll find an Ysorn with metallic gold fur. The females stand an average of 5'1" and have fur colors varying between white, pale blue or metallic silver. Their eyes are always solid black, as is their horns. All Ysorn have the same tattoo somewhere on their body. It's from this that they draw their amazing power.

Racial History

The Ysorn used to live on the surface of Makira. They were the most civilized and kindest race on the planet. They were constantly working to help further the other races of Makira. Then one day a young Ysorn discovered a symbol that, if placed somewhere on an Ysorn's body, would give them unbelievable power. He shared this knowledge with the leader of his tribe. The leader was curious for a demonstration, the young Ysorn gathered his energy together, and used the power to set himself ablaze. When the fire extinguished and the young Ysorn was not harmed the leader was elated. He commissioned the young Ysorn to craft this symbol into the skin of every Ysorn in the village.

The young Ysorn worked for weeks, getting every Ysorn branded with this mark. As time passed the fur where he had made the mark on himself began to grow back. But instead of it's normal red shade it was black, leaving the mark permanently attached to his body.

Years later, after the tribe leader died a new leader took his place. By this time, all of the other races were constantly pestering the Ysorn for help in every thing. He sought to use the power of the mark to make a home for the Ysorn where they wouldn't be bothered. Every Ysorn, all over Makira came together and made themselves a home right on the edge of Makira's atmosphere, so that no one without the mark of the Ysorn would ever be able to get to them. They ascended to their new home on the backs of phoenixes called to them using the mark.

This was 300 years ago, and the Ysorn are up in their new home still. Naturally they come down on occasion to help and obtain necessary supplies, but by now many races have forgot about the Ysorn and they are no longer bothered when they do come down to the surface.
