Phonetics and Sounds
6 vowels | 6 vowels | a, e, i, o, u, y |
18 consonants | 6 aspirates | c, j, x, f, v, h |
12 other | g/k, d/t, z/s, m/n, b/p, l/r |
- Notes
- a, e, i, o, u are sounded as in Latin, y is the neutral vowel in Welsh, same length for all 6 vowels.
- x sounds like sh in show.
- c as in chin or cheese.
- k as in kite or cost.
- v can sound like the v or w in view.
- j sounds like j in bonjour and *must* be sounded.
- g must be hard at all times, as in get, or it will be confused with j (eg.
gem).
Romanized script will use these letters. Questions may optionally be marked with a ? when sentences in the romanized version. All sentences must end in a full stop.
Permenca is a stress-free language. In some areas, however, it is considered polite to lightly stress the first syllable of each sentence fragment.
