Disinfectant was an anti-virus application for the Macintosh. This was one of the longest-lasting programs for the Mac, lasting 9 years of releases (1988-1997) The last version was 3.7.1.

Disinfectant was retired in 1998 by John Norstad, citing the new danger posed by macro viruses, which Disinfectant did not detect, and the inability of Norstad to write code for it to detect the macro viruses.
