The Civfanatics chatroom is an IRC channel located in #civfanatics on the irc.irc-chat.net server. While the channel is supposedly targeted at Civilization-based discussion, it often veers off topic. A sizable subculture of chatgoers has arisen in recent times. CFC operates two other chatrooms, #civmod and #turnchat, but these are of little relevance to OT.
Those wishing to utilize the chatroom should first read the chatroom rules.
It should be noted that #CivFanatics is notorious for very strict policy. For example, mentioning Fiftychat may result in being kicked.

Accessing the chat
Instructions on how to access the chatroom on an IRC client other than the Java one provided by CFC:
- 1. Type in "/server irc.irc-chat.net" and hit enter.
- 2. Type in "/join #CivFanatics" and hit enter.
- 3. Type in "/nick (your desired nick)" and hit enter.
Chatroom Actions
Type these statements in to preform actions:
- Type in "/me (enter action here)" and hit enter to preform an action.
- Type in "/nick (enter name here)" and hit enter to change your name.
- Type in "/join #(enter known channel name here)" and hit enter to switch from #Civfanatics to the designated channel. (On Java, this exits the #Civfanatics room.)
