Evolution
Human ancestors evolved slowly over the last million years prior to the arrival of homo sapiens. Then, in just a few thousand years, man suddenly emerged as the uncontested ruler of his little planet. Some believe it was a minor natural evolution in their ability to articulate sounds, that acted as a spark in the development of their brains. Human mental capacity increased by tenfolds over a short period of time. And just as suddenly, evolution came to a halt again. In fact, man reached the peak of his civiliazation with just about the same brain, the same DNA, that he had when he first went from nomadic hunter-gatherer to steadfast agriculturalist. While parts of mankind would branch off, evolving as different human subspecies, humans on Kroyus have remained more or less the same for a million years.
Description
Humans come in a great variety of physical appearances. While many of the ancient so-called ethnic racial varieties were mixed when technology trivialized transportation and emigration across Kroyus, different areas continued to develop minor physical characteristcs based on subtle regional varieties in environment and climate.
In addition to their appearance, some might argue that humans have an even greater range of differences in personalites, philosophies and ethics. Over the course of history, man has displayed both a stunning capacity for evil and an altruism unmatched by any other sapient lifeform.
Society
Human societies range from minor tribal communities to massive urban civilizations, with all imaginable varieties within these extremes. Just about the only thing one can say specifically, is that any group of humans will form a structured organization; be it based on brotherhood, strength or fear.
Culture
Humans have a great capacity for craft, art, religion, philosophy and science. As varied as their apperances and their social structures, each human being forms his own system of belief, ethics and purpose. Man, in spite of scientific and advances in rationality and logic, seem to have a continued need for superstition, spirituality and religion.
Relations
Some humans have an innate dislike of warks, considering them freaks or abominations. These humans will often be addressing warks using racial slurs that refer to animals and animal behaviour.
As neoms have become a dominant force on Kroyus, some people think of them as oppressors, while others firmly believe they are saviors come to usher in a new era of prosperity.
Shades are more mysterious to humans. Many humans do not even believe they exist at all, or at best are the result of projections of lights and other trickery. Among those who do believe in them, there are mostly two types. There are those who fear them, and there are those who see them as spiritual beings and a final proof of an eternal afterlife.
