With an application like Facebook, you would have to be very carfeul as a teacher. Teachers cannot really become friends with their students, and Facebook chat could relay this message to students. I think that Facebook and Facebook chat could be very beneficial to a classroom setting, because it would allow teachers to instantly be able to communicate with their students. I think that if a teacher were to use Facebook as an academic tool, they should make a page or group specifically for their class, and make it a closed private group. That way, students could communicate with eachother on the group about assignments, class, or tests. It would be a great thing for the students, especially since most of them would already have a Facebook. If the teacher were to be a member, they would have to limit the content available to the members of the group regarding their own profile. Chat could enhance learning in the sense that students would be able to interact with eachother in a very easy way, and if the teacher wanted to get a mass message out, that would be very convenient as well. It could also give the class a sense of unity among themselves.
