I don't think so. The major point is the REASON of closing eyes. Kenshin did it beuscae he ALREADY lost his senses. Closing eyes or not, he already cannot see. But this does not apply to Higashi. He closed his eyes without any problem in senses like Kenshin. That's the critical difference between them.
