Naminé has one task: to rearrange Sora's memories. It is not officially known that she was the one behind it until she reveals herself — since there were several hints that Naminé was indeed a child that lived with Sora on Destiny Islands. Initially, Naminé was given the task to simply rearrange Sora's memories. However, upon continuing this task, she notices the deep affection Sora has for Kairi. Upon this realization, a spark of envy is ignited in Naminé for the fact that she never had anyone that cared this much for her. This was sufficient enough to drive her to slowly white Kairi out of Sora's memories and replace Kairi with herself. In the midst of this, she is convinced to betray Marluxia from Axel's part and she manages to stop just before completely erasing Kairi from Sora's memories. With regret at what she had done and wishing to set things right, Naminé finally tells Sora the truth when he realizes that the person most important to him isn't Naminé at all; but despite this, he still wishes to protect her. Happy with this, Naminé sets off to correct all the wrongs she did and she does.

Naminé has one task: to rearrange Sora's memories. It isn't really known that she's the one behind it until she admits to be the one. In fact, it almost seems as if she was one of Sora's childhood friends that played along with him and Riku back in Destiny Islands — and was being held a hostage in the castle which is what drives Sora to go through the castle and even confront his rival "Riku" who isn't really who he seems to be. Upon further construction of the memories, however, Naminé begins to notice several things about Sora. One of them, and obviously the most important, is the deep affection he has for Kairi. This is enough to make Naminé jealous; since she never had anyone caring for her the way Sora did for Kairi. Therefore, the simply task of rearranging Sora's memories begin to mirror Naminé's wishes; soon enough, she's replacing Kairi with herself in several of his memories.

While the memory restoration is going on, Naminé meets up with the real Riku. She takes on the appearance of Kairi and does her best to aid Riku in his choosing over the darkness and light; telling him not to deny that very darkness in his heart. Riku manages to see right through the appearance she took on, however, after she makes him the offer to lock away the darkness in his heart so it no longer torments him. This is an offer he refuses, to her surprise, but she agrees that this was the correct decision to make.

After Marluxia is defeated, Naminé leads Sora, Goofy, and Donald to a room that contains devices. These devices shall rearrange the chain of their memories with a setback — they'll break the ones she created, therefore causing Sora to forget Naminé completely. Although Sora accepts, he tells Naminé and promises that she will still be in his heart and they will eventually find each other again. With those final words, the three step into the devices and since then, Naminé has been carefully caring for them.

They team up, this time with DiZ who constructed a virtual world in which Sora's Nobody, Roxas, lives in. She isn't exactly content with the work he's doing and even goes against his orders, such as the time when she told Roxas he didn't deserve to exist but told him they would meet again; even if they didn't recognize each other. After sufficient pieces are added to this confusing puzzle, it's shown that Naminé is Kairi's Nobody. She keeps on making appearances every now and then, especially when it concerns helping Kairi flee from Axel and later the Organization who is holding her captive. In the end, Naminé does keep her promise and sees Roxas again; each from their respective Somebody.

Other than having contact with Sora, Naminé meets Riku at a point as well. Taking on the appearance of Kairi, Naminé aids Riku in telling him not to deny the darkness in his heart while he is drowning in the light. When they finally do meet, Naminé proposes an offer to him: to lock away the darkness in his heart so that he will never be troubled by it. To her surprise, Riku denies this offer and says that he would rather fight it. It was then that Riku notices that the Kairi that aided him was indeed Naminé — when Naminé suggests that what he had chosen was the correct decision.

In the time span between the end of Chain of Memories and the initiation of Kingdom Hearts II, Naminé is carefully looking over Sora and his friends during the process of the restoration of their memories. She plays a part in the virtual world Roxas lives in and we later find out that she is really a Nobody, born from the moment Kairi's heart returned to her. Because Kairi's heart did not have any trace of darkness, Naminé was created from her, just as Roxas was born from Sora. She aids Ansem the Wise and offers him help in his studies, but later tells Roxas the truth — he didn't deserve to exist.

Although she was taken away, Naminé told Roxas they would meet again; even if they didn't remember each other. Later on, Naminé makes another appearance when she helps Kairi and Pluto escape from the trap set up by the Organization. After helping reunite them with their friends, Naminé further aids them by helping them get back home. At this point, she decides to fuse with Kairi in order to complete her; but this does not mean her existence was no longer. In the end, she does meet up with Roxas, as she had said they would — each from their respective Somebody.

When it comes to personality, Naminé is an extremely timid, passive young girl when we first meet her — one with a mysterious air about her that gives off the idea that she's frail and needs to be protected. However, when necessary, the strong will beneath this peaceful facade shows through. Although she might not show it and remain calm and quiet most of the time, Naminé has begun to develop a strong sense of fighting for what she believes is right — becoming less shy and afraid. Even if she might pull back sometimes or go all the way through, she's still the kind, peaceful person those few people that know her have seen her be. Helpful and caring, once she finds someone she cares for ( such as Sora ), she is willing to risk the little she has to defend them as best she can.

Throughout the time she is looking over Sora and further into the second part of Kingdom Hearts, the personality and emotional changes she was experiencing show off more. She is a bit more easy going as well as determined and isn't as afraid — in fact, she seems to defy what others command of her. Additionally, she is willing to put herself in a risky situation to help out those she cares about.

Naminé as seen in Kingdom Hearts II.
Naminé is a character from the Kingdom Hearts series, although she first appears in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and later in the second game, Kingdom Hearts II. She appears to be relatively mysterious for a while, constantly seen alone in a white room drawing away.

It is later discovered that Naminé is being utilized by the Organization in order to pull off their scheme. Upon entering Castle Oblivion, Sora had his memories erased and it was up to Naminé to reconstruct them in a way that benefited the Organization. Because of her meek and frail nature, the Organization basically treated her quite harshly. Upon meeting Sora, however, it all dawned upon her and everything changed.

Although very little is known about her past when we first encounter her, Naminé is an individual that has the ability to alter memories. This is done by destroying links connecting real memories and rearranging them in a fashion that alters everything that really happened. This is what the Organization uses her for, keeping her in a secluded room with only crayons and a sketchpad before her.
