[18:57:56] * LordBarrius looks back down at Damsel. "It was then that my creator informed me of an attack on the city of Ira. Their armies had overrun the city, and slaughtered a vast majority of the population. The slaughter I had anticipated came to pass, but in the wrong location."

[18:58:43] * Mieko puts the crystal on his arm. "Wrap that up too." *

[18:58:56] * Avarie blinks in surprise as a mass of light comes flooding into the abode from the open door next to her. Squinting into the brightness, she peers through the doorway. "What the...?"

[18:59:24] <Dale> What the...

[18:59:39] * Mieko covers her face. "Great." *

[19:00:30] * LordBarrius turns his head slightly and frowns. "Damsel, did you feel that....?"

[19:00:32] <>Ambiance<> A single red eye sigil appears on the door and begins to glow brighter then its surrounding light

[19:00:55] * Damsel frowns, looking over her shoulder and back towards the abode. "Yes..."

[19:01:16] * Mobuis sheilds his eyes. "This is one of those days."

[19:01:32] * Damsel quickly gets to her feet. "Something's happening. We should hurry." With that said, she takes off running.

[19:01:40] * Mieko looks over at Mobuis. "Like yesterday?" *

[19:01:52] <>Ambiance<> The doorway opens

[19:01:57] * Dale hurries over to a window, looking out at the forest. "What is that..."

[19:02:01] * LordBarrius closes his eyes and winces, forcing energy into his legs and pulling himself to a standing position, then following at a similar pace.

[19:02:01] * Avarie takes a few steps backward, wary.

[19:02:37] * Mobuis stands up.

[19:02:43] * DrLouisZephyr has joined #darkabode

[19:02:44] * Deathbringer walks in, wondering what is going on.

[19:03:39] * Avarie takes a few wary steps forward. "Are... you all right?"

[19:03:58] <DrLouisZephyr> "I will live...."

[19:04:22] * DrLouisZephyr waves Avarie off and stands

[19:04:45] * LordBarrius stops upon reaching the door and stares at it briefly before noticing Zephyr and moving in closer. "Doctor, what brings you here?"

[19:04:47] * Avarie pauses, concerned. "What's happened?"

[19:05:06] <DrLouisZephyr> Delphi

[19:05:11] * Mobuis watches quietly.

[19:05:16] * Dale does the same.

[19:05:19] * Damsel slows to a halt next to LordBarrius.

[19:05:28] * Deathbringer watches, his face shrouded.

[19:06:36] <LordBarrius> Delphi? Is it moving you around without warning as well?

[19:06:40] * Damsel frowns. "The force that's been pulling us all over the multiverse?"

[19:06:45] * Mieko frowns *

[19:07:14] * Deathbringer removes his hood, frowning.

[19:08:19] <DrLouisZephyr> The nature of Delphi is complicated

[19:08:37] <DrLouisZephyr> Delphi started as a project....

[19:09:13] <DrLouisZephyr> Its original purpose was to examine the concept of "Consentual Reality". Individuals selected for the project were placed in sensory deprivation.

[19:09:50] <DrLouisZephyr> And a computer caused their brain waves to syncronize but gave them otherwise no input

[19:10:03] <DrLouisZephyr> It was a sort of shared mental landscape. A dream world.

[19:10:33] * Avarie shivers slightly at the idea of sensory deprivation.

[19:10:44] <DrLouisZephyr> However not long after the project began... the Academy's other students began to be drawn into the syncronization.

[19:11:06] <DrLouisZephyr> Inexplicably falling into a comatose state. Their brainwaves syncronizing with the others even when not in the tanks.

[19:11:43] <DrLouisZephyr> At first we assumed that the worlds that Delphi visited were purely imaginary mental constructs....

[19:11:57] * Damsel shakes her head, disliking the implications.

[19:12:05] <DrLouisZephyr> However as the nature of the world became more apparent we began to realize that those worlds were no less real then our own.

[19:12:21] <DrLouisZephyr> That Delphi was not in fact creating a syncronized consentual reality

[19:12:25] * LordBarrius tilts his head in curiousity. "They were actual worlds in other multiverses, weren't they...."

[19:12:46] <DrLouisZephyr> But providing a sort of mental doorway. By which the participants were able to overshadow their analogs on other worlds.

[19:12:48] <Malice> When we go, do we leave a body?

[19:12:57] * Deathbringer frowns deeper, not liking what he is hearing.

[19:13:03] <DrLouisZephyr> At first this was entirely one way. And it always happened in a mental fashion....

[19:13:31] <DrLouisZephyr> But as the project gained momentum and the government gained interest we became keenly aware of the fact that it was no longer a one way doorway.

[19:13:45] <DrLouisZephyr> One of our students came out of catatonia. However he was no longer our student

[19:14:17] <DrLouisZephyr> He had been replaced by his analog or more correctly two of his analogs existing in a recohered state.

[19:14:32] <DrLouisZephyr> And then individuals began to actually disappear

[19:14:45] <DrLouisZephyr> Physically as well as mentally being transported by the Delphi project.

[19:14:47] * maieo walks down the stairs into the common room. "What's happening?" *

[19:15:22] <DrLouisZephyr> The government threatened to pull the plug on the machine. However we had discovered that if we attempted to forcibly removed those in catatonia the result was brain damage....

[19:15:39] <DrLouisZephyr> The military did not care about our students.

[19:15:55] <DrLouisZephyr> Their own interest was in the military applications of a doorway to another worldf

[19:16:02] <DrLouisZephyr> The invaded the academy....

[19:16:45] <DrLouisZephyr> There was a firefight and Dr. Jardis did some manipulation from within delphi that transfered the machinery itself out of Orphic and into one of the other realites

[19:17:22] * LordBarrius frowns deeply. "This is troubling to hear....what of the students still in catatonia? Did they survive? And where is the machinery now?"

[19:17:28] <Malice> With the catatonic students in the tank, I would assume?

[19:17:42] <DrLouisZephyr> I was taken into custody and forced through a more sophisticated military version of Delphi. One I recognized that they had created specifically as a gate. I say more sophisticated as it was much more targetable. However in a way it was far more primitive.

[19:17:51] <DrLouisZephyr> Delphi for its own part seemed to have a mind of its own.

[19:18:16] <DrLouisZephyr> Whereas the military machinery was just a simple portal

[19:18:24] * Damsel mutters quietly. "And sounds like it was self-sustaining as well..."

[19:18:27] <DrLouisZephyr> I escaped from the General

[19:18:54] <DrLouisZephyr> I learned only later that Delphi had begun expanding its borders drawing more and more people into its clutches

[19:19:35] <DrLouisZephyr> The reason for this drawing is unclear but it seems to be that in a real sense Delphi is driven by the "Minds" of the Various worlds it touched.

[19:19:42] <DrLouisZephyr> The collective intellect of the world itself.

[19:19:51] <DrLouisZephyr> The spirit of the world.

[19:20:12] * Damsel's eyes go wide. "By the gods...."

[19:20:15] <DrLouisZephyr> The General's portal was a forced doorway an abomination. A war machine designed to capture and harness other realities......

[19:20:48] <DrLouisZephyr> It became quite clear that the General... his purpose was power and control. He was an example of great corruption arrising from within creation.

[19:20:54] <DrLouisZephyr> And his analogs were all even worse.

[19:21:01] <DrLouisZephyr> Each more corrupted than the last....

[19:21:16] <DrLouisZephyr> One of the most extreme was a Caelestian known as Morgan of Orisis

[19:21:40] * LordBarrius shudders at the thought. "That is horrific...." He then frowns deeply at the mention of Morgan. "Morgan?!"

[19:21:43] * Avarie gasps aloud.

[19:21:56] <DrLouisZephyr> Said individual had once created a necrotic poison so toxic that if it touched ANY living thing that living thing died and became corrupted with the poision

[19:22:07] <DrLouisZephyr> Anything that touched their corpses too became dead

[19:22:24] * Deathbringer shakes his head, the hellfire in his eye flaring.

[19:22:25] <DrLouisZephyr> He used it to assassinate King Orion of Valoria

[19:22:35] * Avarie hugs her arms to herself and shudders

[19:22:47] <DrLouisZephyr> Even the microorganisms on Orion carried the toxin

[19:22:51] <DrLouisZephyr> and spread on the wind.

[19:23:03] <DrLouisZephyr> Much of mithius died before Orion was ultimately encased in a Glass tomb

[19:23:18] <DrLouisZephyr> Sometime thereafter Orisis turned his dark magic on himself

[19:23:21] <DrLouisZephyr> He became a Lich Lord

[19:24:02] <DrLouisZephyr> There is some evidence that Orisis worked with a man known as The Man In Black

[19:24:12] <DrLouisZephyr> Who is himself an ultimate example of creation corrupted

[19:24:29] * LordBarrius makes a face in disgust. "Those two working together....sounds about right."

[19:24:48] <DrLouisZephyr> At anyrate Orisis is confined to Caelestia mainly but his actions are quite distressing and the General's actions parallel his

[19:25:15] <DrLouisZephyr> His desire was power... I became aware of an ages old battle of corruption a disease that sought to tear apart all worlds

[19:25:20] <DrLouisZephyr> To kill delphi....

[19:25:35] * Deathbringer returns the hood to his head, crossing his arms in disgust.

[19:25:37] <DrLouisZephyr> Some whispered that the corruption was named The'Galin and so I sought him out

[19:25:52] <DrLouisZephyr> Yet when I found him I found that these whispers

[19:25:55] <DrLouisZephyr> Were a lie....

[19:26:03] <DrLouisZephyr> A lie told by the taint itself....

[19:26:37] <DrLouisZephyr> The'Galin was a destroyer to be sure. However his anger was turned not against the main but against the very same taint that so plagued the world

[19:26:55] <LordBarrius> And that is why you agreed to help The`Galin? To purge the tainted beings such as those from the various multiverses?

[19:27:04] <DrLouisZephyr> A taint that naturally appears to arise from the very facets of creation that make life purposeful and worth living

[19:28:01] <DrLouisZephyr> It can either be checked. Or it can be allowed to continue Unabated.

[19:28:35] <DrLouisZephyr> I constructed a new machine buried beneath the Orphic academy on an alternate Earth

[19:28:46] <DrLouisZephyr> One in which I died in the early 1930's of Polio

[19:29:14] <DrLouisZephyr> I arranged through various channels to direct Dr. Jardis on that world toward founding Orphic herself

[19:29:28] <DrLouisZephyr> even though on the other reality I had been the founder.

[19:29:45] <DrLouisZephyr> Orphic's face on that world is decidedly different. Magic functions differently and more openly

[19:30:07] <DrLouisZephyr> Also other more vulgar methods of interdimensional travel did not work

[19:30:18] <DrLouisZephyr> Due to thick barriers to the outside

[19:30:42] <DrLouisZephyr> Only the less vulgar magic of Orphic could function as it worked With the mind of reality itself

[19:31:01] <DrLouisZephyr> I then activated the machine and was promptly connected to the New Version of Delphi

[19:31:08] <DrLouisZephyr> Time passed without problems

[19:31:25] <DrLouisZephyr> While I remained distant from the world all things happened as they were expected to happen

[19:32:00] <DrLouisZephyr> However a group of wayward souls ended up somehow crossed up with The original Delphi project and with other temporal issues

[19:32:13] <DrLouisZephyr> They ended up within that world and making enough changes to its time line

[19:32:23] <DrLouisZephyr> To.... break down the barriers which once isolated the world

[19:32:47] * Avarie groans. "Oh no..."

[19:32:48] <DrLouisZephyr> The effect was at first good for the world. It expanded their horizons, Made for a new and different reality

[19:32:54] <DrLouisZephyr> However it attracted attention

[19:33:17] * LordBarrius raises an eyebrow, though he keeps silent.

[19:33:22] <DrLouisZephyr> The General Became aware of a second and relatively unguarded machine running on that reality and has begun to take action to secure it for himself

[19:33:46] <DrLouisZephyr> If he did or does so the machine will allow him to harm and control the minds of entire realities with his modifications

[19:33:55] <DrLouisZephyr> The power it will give him is potentially limitless....

[19:34:21] * Damsel shudders. "So how do we stop him?"

[19:34:23] <LordBarrius> How can he be stopped?

[19:34:26] <DrLouisZephyr> In addition the machine became tied into the minds of other worlds

[19:34:34] <DrLouisZephyr> Those new worlds it intersected.

[19:34:39] <DrLouisZephyr> Among them the World of Lore

[19:34:44] <DrLouisZephyr> And seeking to defend itself....

[19:34:57] <DrLouisZephyr> It has reached out and begun to draw in travellers just as the First Delphi did.

[19:35:14] <DrLouisZephyr> It has begun to select its chosen heroes from the face of those worlds

[19:35:32] <DrLouisZephyr> And shuffle them arround the universe in a manner which makes sense only to the Worlds themselves

[19:35:56] <DrLouisZephyr> I cannot say....

[19:36:03] <DrLouisZephyr> Delphi has grabbed me myself

[19:36:27] <DrLouisZephyr> When it was just one Delphi shuffling me about I was able to control it with my own superior Telepathy

[19:36:39] <DrLouisZephyr> I am like flotsam and jetsam on a vast ocean

[19:38:42] * LordBarrius sighs as he begins to relax slightly, his balance again starting to falter.

[19:38:44] * Damsel sighs. "I suppose we have to trust that Delphi will arrange for us to be when and where we can have the most impact in preventing it's falling into the hands of this General."
