HB Journal for Sep 3, 1939
From Brackbillwiki
Sunday has come again and with it have come all the blessings and joys peculiar to it.
First of all we sleep late. Then breakfast is different. We dress up. Then the biggest change is the most important factor of the day - Sunday School & Church.
This day we had a family picnic with Aldens & Buchers as special guests - in the meadow over home. We swam & played croquet.
We had a nice C.E. meeting after which we went down home & listened to the radio. President in his speech said the U.S. would be neutral in this war.
Commentary
The Brackbills listened to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's radio address on the occasion of Germany's invasion of Poland.
