HB Journal for Jul 4, 1940
From Brackbillwiki
We were real patriotic today and took the day off. We got up just as early as ever and prepared to go over home all day.
It was rainy in the forenoon and I helped to haul manure and put pea hulls in the silo. Marksburries & the rest of our family were there as well as Nancy.
In the afternoon I helped replant tobacco & helped make icecream. Uncle Ivan came after supper and we had a swell time. We came home too soon it seemed, yet it was pretty late.
