Refreshed and rested, I pushed into the affairs of the day with joy and gladness. I was early enough to start the mill again.

John was absent a while in the morning and all the afternoon. We were busy with trade and I went back after supper to finish my books and get things in shape for morning.

Jane stopped to see me at noon, or rather to get her handbag.

The day was encased in beautiful weather. There was frost last night & ice, but the sun soon drove that away.

Four more days of single life.
