John was not at the mill when I arrived. But he was there after he came for everything was not as he thought it should have been - nothing serious.

We had a good many orders again as usual for Saturday. After dinner we should have been done but Dick & I put a new silk on the mill and so I didn't get home until four.

Jane and I went up to Mary & Willis's for supper & the evening - they wanted us to stay all night but we declined.

A stray west wind lowered the temperature to away below freezing since dark.
