-The sun was shining brightly this morning when our kind Big Ben called us. We soon got up for we both had early morning work to do. [[Jane Young|Jane]] her washing, and I had potatoes to dust before the sun took the dew away.
-At the [[Hess's Mill|mill]], things were normal. I nearly finished the cleaning in the garret. The feed business was about the same.
-[[Groffie]] brought cobs before supper. Supper was large & good. W. Wenger came just to see us. I hoed garden & Jane ironed. I quit at dark but she is still at it. &mdash;9:15 P.M. This is Wed. night, but Jane said "Old Man 'Usta' is dead."
