Karl Ranck (sometimes spelled "Carl" in Herman's journals) was a friend of the Brackbill family and a member of Leacock Presbyterian Church. Stanley Ranck, better known as "Twiddley," and Emma Ranck were Karl's siblings. Herman borrowed Carl's car on more than one occasion.
