The meeting of the Eighth Brackbill Reunion held Sunday July 4, 1954 in the Paradise Community Park was opened by singing "Faith of Our Fathers". The devotions were in charge of Rev. Moses Brackbill. The scripture read was John 3: 1 to 20.
For special music Harold and Mary Ellen Yuninger played a duet on their baritones.
The Historian's report by Martin Brackbill Sr. was a very interesting talk on the Brackbill family, where they came from originally and where they are now located. Rev. Moses Brackbill brought to our attention the fact that a number of the younger members of the Brackbill Clan are now in Christian Service.
Benjamin R. Brackbill was in charge of a memorial service for the following: Carlotta Peoples Stager, Miss Bertha Breckbill, and Mrs. Edna L. Breckbill.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary and approved as read.
The treasurer's report was given by Hebron Brackbill. Balance - $1.40.
The new officers which were nominated by the committee and duly elected are as follows:
- President - Christian Brackbill
- Vice-President - Rev. Moses Brackbill
- Rec. Sec. - Mrs. Lee Brown
- Corres. Sec. - Martin Brackbill
- Treasurer - Hebron Brackbill
- Historian - Martin Brackbill Jr.
The speaker of the day was Charles Passmore who gave a very interesting address.
The vice president, Christian Brackbill, awarded the prizes of a silver dollar to the following: the youngest, Eunice Eileen Brown, seven weeks; the oldest Miss Hettie Hershey, 84 Yrs.; and to the person who had traveled the greatest distance, Harry Brackbill Jr.
There were 73 persons registered. Offering - 39.25.
The meeting was adjourned by singing "Blest Be the Tide That Binds". Some of the group remained to eat their picnic lunches.
Respectfully submitted,
Doris Brown
Recording Secretary
