I would rather have laid awhile this morning but [[Jane Young|Jane]] was so tired and sleepy that I let her rest and got breakfast started myself. Jane soon came to my rescue.

Work at the [[Hess's Mill|mill]] certainly isn't monotonous. Today, [[Dick]] & [[Groffie]] went up the creek to fix a big leak in the side of the race.

[[Allen]] & I were left to ourselves at the mill with the milll shut down and not many orders. ----

After supper, Jane & I went to Chestnut, L--- & heard Dr. T. Roland Phillip and saw many good old friends. It was raining when we came back.
