As ever, - - - - - - - -
We were not overloaded with orders at the mill but Morris was off and Carl had 3 flat tires and that made me one hour and a half late getting home. Of course, Mother supposed I had to work overtime to make up for lateness.
After supper, on our way up to a Chorus Committee meeting in Lanc, Jane & I took Adeline to ____. We drove Jane's car. It rained and was damp.
Commentary
Here Herman plays a little with the repeated theme of lateness by not even bothering to write anything after "as ever" except a series of dashes over three and a half lines.
