| - | Akhmou was present at the Ta-Koroan Kohlii field during the great tournament, and was stil there when the Rahkshi attacked. Akhmou recognized them as part of the Makuta, and realised that the Makuta was not defeated, but still had tricks up his sleeve. He arrived at the Kini-Nui and saw the Toa Nuva and Takanuva defeat the Rahkshi, and hid, watching from a distance. When a bright flash of light erupted from the destroyed Suva, he scurried down, fearing that the Makuta had been defeated by the power of the Seventh Toa. As he arrived, he saw a titanic being holding open a door. That being uttered four words, "My duty is done," and let the heavy door fall down on him. He heard a voice that sounded faintly like that of the dead Ta-Matoran Jaller, and saw a large mask slide out from the door.

| - | He walked over to it, and picked it up. This was the mask that the Makuta wore when he had appeared to Akhmou! The Makuta's staff and armor were lying nearby. Akhmou couldn't believe it - the Makuta was dead! Akhmou, ot knowing what he was doing, slapped the Krahkaan against his face, and he was transformed by a remaining portion of Makuta's energy into a Toa of Shadows. Unable to believe what was happening, he picked up the Makuta's Staff of Shadows. It was then that he heard a voice inside his head - a Voice back from the dead. It had survived through Makuta's mask and tool; Akhmou was lead by the Voice to the Brotherhood of Makuta base on a distant island, where the Voice told him a way to enter secretly. He entered the main chambers of the Brotherhood, where the Voice left his body and appeared to all of the other memebrs; the Makuta's shadow titan form stood before them, ghostly and unsubstantial. It told them that this Toa had saved him, however unwittingly, from death and non-existence. Although his spirit could survive in a place where the power of shadows was so strong, he would need a new body if he ever wanted to leave the room. That job was up to the new Toa Akhmou, and he was appointed leader of the soon-to-be-reformed Toa Hagah, and the personal operative of the Makuta. He was assigned to trabel the entire planet, recruiting Toa and obtaining nothing but the best pieces for the Makuta's new body.
