You didn't want my help (Daisie)
From Badrp
Little O gets up, offering Big O her hands. "Come on. Off the couch." | |
Big O | Nnnn? Where are we going? |
---|---|
Daisie[garden] is sitting in her little private garden, watching the stars. | |
Little O | I don't know. The gardens. Anywhere. Out of this room. |
Dream is sitting with her, watching one star in particular. | |
Big O | Mmmm. *pats about the vicinity, looking for his sunglasses* |
Big O | I can't even remember where I put them.... |
Little O finds them for him and puts them into his hands, helping him up. | |
Big O | *mumbles* Thank you. *fumbles them onto his face* |
Big O | *stands a little unsteadily with her help* |
Little O | At least I'm not stealing them this time. |
Big O | heh. |
Daisie[garden] | It's a quiet night. |
Big O | *squeezes Little O's hand* Lead on, then. |
Little O keeps one actuator curled behind Big O as a precaution, leading him carefully out into the halls. "We should find Daisie... I need to thank her. And Dream..." | |
Big O | *nods, allowing himself to be led* |
Big O | ((brb)) |
Dream rubs Daisie's back lightly with one pale hand. | |
Little O asks a passing servant if she knows where Daisie can be found. | |
Daisie[garden] leans against Dream with a sigh. | |
Dream nuzzles the top of her head gently, slipping his arm more fully around her. | |
Daisie[garden] | *the servant believes Daisie is in her suite.* |
Daisie[garden] | I wish people would be planets around me, instead of comets...if they're going to be pulled into orbit I'd rather they stay. |
Little O leads Big O towards Daisie's suite, and knocks gently, not wanting to interrupt. | |
Dream nods solemnly, placing a light kiss on her brow. "I know, love. I know." | |
Daisie[garden] sighs and stands, going into the sitting room. "Who is it?" | |
Little O | Little O and Big O... Is it alright to come in? |
Dream rises as well, glancing skyward for a moment before drifting after her. | |
Daisie[garden] | Yes, come in. |
Big O | ((back)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((wb!)) |
Little O looks up at Big O, still leading him. | |
Big O can't see her, but allows himself to be led in, noticing the change in the scent around him, if nothing else. | |
Little O | Are we interrupting anything, Daisie? |
Daisie[garden] | No. What is it? |
Little O | Big O's doing better, so we thought we'd get out of our rooms, and I wanted to come see you. |
Daisie[garden] | ((You know, no one's told Daisie that Big O is blind...)) |
Big O | *quietly* Where are we? |
Dream nods a greeting to the couple, moving to stand with Daisie. | |
Daisie[garden] | The actuators he stole did no permanent da... |
Daisie[garden] | You're in my sitting room, Big O. |
Big O | ((This is true. *nudges Little O*)) |
Daisie[garden] | It hasn't changed since you were last here. |
Little O looks up at him again. "Daisie's rooms, love... No, the damage isn't permaent, but..." | |
Daisie[garden] | But? |
Little O | *quietly* He can't see, Daisie. |
Big O | *sighs softly but doesn't say anything* |
Daisie[garden] frowns a bit, and sighs. | |
Daisie[garden] | Well, he should have known better than to take them. |
Little O looks away. | |
Big O | I didn't have much choice. If any. |
Daisie[garden] | Of course you did. |
Big O | *quietly* What would that have been? |
Daisie[garden] | One should always use the /best tools available/ in battle. |
Big O | They were the best tools available. The only ones impervious to magnetism. |
Daisie[garden] | Oh, and you did so very well on your own did you? |
Little O looks pained. "Please, don't fight..." | |
Daisie[garden] | Oh, this isn't a fight, Little O. |
Daisie[garden] | This is a lecture. |
Daisie[garden] moves to a chair and sits. | |
Big O | *looks about to say something, but stops* |
Daisie[garden] | Why didn't you ask for help, Big O? |
Little O chews her lip and lets Big O answer. | |
Big O | Any number of reasons. Ones that are completely valid to myself even if they aren't accepted by others. |
Daisie[garden] | And you'd do it again, I presume? |
Big O | *looks pained* It is my duty to keep her safe. I failed. The only thing for it is to keep trying until I succeed. |
Daisie[garden] | Idiot. |
Little O frowns. "Maybe we should leave..." | |
Daisie[garden] | If he cannot learn from his mistakes, Little O, then yes, he should avoid my company. |
Little O is just kinda gonna shrink in herself now... | |
Daisie[garden] | And if this is the level of concern for not only your own safety, but the security of DaisieWorld you two will continue to show... |
Daisie[garden] she pauses, biting her lip. She doesn't want to have to say this. | |
Little O | How did we threaten DaisieWorld? |
Daisie[garden] | Do you think Metallo won't seek you out again? Speedy can tell him where you are. |
Little O | Can he get here? I know security has been put into place. |
Little O | And he knew where I was in the first place. Speedy has always known where I lived. |
Daisie[garden] | Oh, I see. You will continue to act recklessly and expect me to protect you? |
Little O | I haven't acted recklessly! |
Big O | D'you honestly think we wanted that little brat to betray us?! |
Daisie[garden] | How exactly /were/ you kidnapped, Little O? |
Little O | I went to visit my brother. |
Daisie[garden] | So you returned to a world where you know you are a wanted criminal. |
Big O | We'd managed to escape notice for years.... |
Daisie[garden] | That doesn't excuse the risk. |
Little O | I won't cut off all relations with my siblings.... and the fact that I'm wanted there has no bearing on what happened! |
Big O | Our standing with the law means nothing to people like Metallo. |
Daisie[garden] | I realize that. |
Daisie[garden] | However, it was an unnecessary risk. |
Daisie[garden] | I really don't think either of you are in a position to lecture /me/ on such matters at the moment. |
Daisie[garden] | You've shown disregard for your own personal safety. |
Little O is trying not to cry. "Daisie, it was my idea to visit in the first place. If there is a fault in this, it's mine. But there's no way I could have predicted that a madman from another world would be seeking me out!" | |
Daisie[garden] | You're both at fault in this, Little O. |
Big O | He isn't even from our world. He could have found us anywhere. |
Daisie[garden] swallows the lump in her throat. | |
Daisie[garden] | You. Aren't. Listening. |
Daisie[garden] | If you care not for my reasons, say as much, and I shall skip to the conclusion. |
Little O | I'm trying to listen. |
Daisie[garden] | You put yourself as risk. Not only that, you put your brother at risk. |
Daisie[garden] | This was needless. Little Bro could easily have visited you here. |
Daisie[garden] | This shows you are unconcerned with the safety of others. And /that/ is a problem for me. |
Little O nods, trying too hard not to cry to say anything. | |
Daisie[garden] | Big O, you have shown that you are too proud to act wisely when attacked. |
Daisie[garden] | Since your enemies may pursue you here, that is also a problem for me. |
Daisie[garden] grips the arms of her chair tightly. | |
Big O is silent, listening* | |
Daisie[garden] | I must protect my land. It is my duty. |
Dream places a comforting hand on Daisie's shoulder. | |
Daisie[garden] | *quietly* Unfortunately, you've chosen to defend your foolish actions, instead of accepting that you have made mistakes. |
Little O | ((Um, did you miss the part where Little O nodded? An admission?)) |
Daisie[garden] | I cannot allow you to bring threats to my land. |
Daisie[garden] | ((I, and Daisie, thought it was a nod of "yeah, I can see how that's a problem")) |
Little O | ((The limits of text. If Daisie can see Little O's expression, she'd know otherwise.)) |
Daisie[garden] waits to see if either of them have anything to say. | |
Little O | I know this whole mess was my fault, Daisie. No matter what Big O did to rescue me, if I hadn't put us at risk, it wouldn't have mattered. |
Daisie[garden] | That doesn't excuse his actions. |
Daisie[garden] | Do you know the penalty for theft, Big O? |
Big O | No. |
Daisie[garden] | Charm has the right to demand I remove one of your hands, or any punishment I deem lesser than that. |
Little O 's breath catches. | |
Big O | *nods* |
Daisie[garden] | I cannot allow you to leave until your punishment has been given. |
Daisie[garden] | Until then, you are both given time to consider your actions. If you can reassure me that you have learned from your mistakes, I will permit you to stay. Otherwise... |
Daisie[garden] | I'll have...I'll have to insist you leave. |
Little O nods again. "That's your right." | |
Daisie[garden] | It's my duty. |
Little O | I'm sorry. |
Daisie[garden] | As am I. |
Daisie[garden] | Is there some other business you wish to discuss? |
Little O | I... No. |
Big O | Let's go, Little O. *tries to find her hand* |
Little O takes his, and turns to leave. | |
Little O and Big O head back up to their rooms, silent. | |
Big O has left #DaisieWorld | |
Little O | ((Well, that was unpleasant.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((Yup, it was.)) |
Little O | ((Sorry you felt it was necessary.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((It's what Daisie had to do.)) |
Little O | ((I'll leave if you'd like me to. I just wanted to say there are no hard feelings from my end. I just had trouble with a little of Daisie's logic, is all.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((*shrugs* Little O and Big O always knew Daisie had duties.)) |
Little O | ((Yes, but they didn't bring any danger to DaisieWorld.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((In her mind, they have.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((And she has to protect her land.)) |
Little O | ((Could you explain? Metallo was hunting Little O. No secret has ever been made of where she lived. You've made it repeatedly clear that no uninvited guest would survive arriving.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((Little O and Big O both did things that made it clear they're not terribly careful. And they also seemed to feel Daisie shouldn't call them on that, which is arrogant.)) |
Little O | ((If anything, Daisie put DaisieWorld at the most risk by including herself in the rescue party.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((Little O and Big O are Daisie's people. She's obligated to save them.)) |
Little O | ((Personally? When she has people like Suit on staff?)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((She knew she, personally, had the best chance of finding Little O.)) |
Little O | ((No, Dream did.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((I mean between herself and Suit.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((And you know, I don't tell you how to play Little O, please don't presume to tell me how to play Daisie?)) |
Little O | ((But Daisie /didn't/ find Little O. Dream did. I'm not telling you how to play Daisie.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((Dream is not allowed to kill unless the person is a threat to the Dreaming. Daisie doesn't have that problem.)) |
Dream | ((Also, despite being made of nonferrous metals, Suit' suit uses electricity, and several of its weapons systems use raw or channeled plasma (which has an electromagnetic field that Metallo could manipulate).)) |
Dream | ((She could go from rescuer to new toy very, very quickly.)) |
Little O | ((That's a good point.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((We /did/ consider all the options, ---.)) |
Little O | ((I tried, but I see I've missed a few.)) |
Daisie[garden] | ((So I'll ask you kindly to leave now.)) |
Little O sez: The big thing she misses here is that we asked her not to over-run our damn plot in the first place.
