Geography and Climate

Caliese was built in the middle of a large expansive plain. As a result, the climate is rather temperate with a little effect from the now distant Ebon Mountains. Surrounding the various roads and rail line that lead to Caliese are farms that have been situated on the rather fertile lands surrounding Caliese. Trees are a fairly common sight around the city, despite the lack of any major groves or forests. The city itself is somewhat large, holding a few thousand people within its borders.

History

Caliese was and is first and foremost a trade hub for the mines to the South. As a result, the city's growth and prosperity have been directly linked to that of the mining operations. Furthermore, this focus has attracted many weapon and armor smiths to set up shop within its borders. It's importance as a trade city was only further solidified by the expansion of the Rail system into its borders.

Society and Culture

Caliese culture revolves around merchants and traders. As a result, almost anything can be bought or acquired, for a price. However, this focus on trade has also created more of a consumer culture within the borders, with citizens professing wares and items they have purchased as examples of how better they are at existing that you. Nonetheless, the people of Caliese are relatively warm and helpful to others, though, with some, that often correlates to how large their pocketbook is. Caliese, while not being as large as some other cities, has all of amenities, from taverns to a theater to, of course, a Rail station.
